All plein air painting days are fun. However, some are definitely more challenging than others and really test our mettle as artists. This mid-October chilly day definitely tops the list. Mark and I decided to hike out into the middle of a farm field to paint an old barn and farm property. There was nothing there to break the wind. Wow. This painting hit me in the face more than once before I decided to call it a day and bring the painting home to finish it up. It was almost finished on location, but the wind won and I had to head home. Despite the wind challenges (luckily I didn’t have pastels to worry about like Mark, who lost all of them into the farm field from the wind and had to pick them out one by one), I really am happy with this October scene.
